How the healthy weight range is worked out

The range runs from the weight that gives a BMI of 18.5 up to just below the weight that gives a BMI of 25, for your height. For example, at 5 ft 7 in that is about 119 lb to 159 lb.

What BMI doesn’t tell you

The CDC notes that BMI is a screening measure and should be considered with other factors when assessing someone’s health. People with a lot of muscle can have a high BMI without excess fat.
