How to use

  1. 1. Add images or PDFsChoose ID photos or scanned PDFs. You can add any number of files at once.
  2. 2. Choose the recipient and purposeEnter the recipient (e.g. ABC Realty) and choose a purpose; a date and “Not valid for any other purpose” are added. You can change the date. Adjust color, opacity, size, angle and layout while watching the preview.
  3. 3. Add the watermark and savePress “Add watermark” and save. The watermark is burned into the image, and camera data such as location is not included.

Before handing over a copy of your ID

  • Writing the recipient and purpose makes it easier to notice if the copy is used for something else
  • A date shows when you handed it over
  • Zoom into the preview before saving and check that numbers and the photo are still readable
  • Photos taken on a phone may contain location data. Saving here removes it

FAQ

Who is this for?

Anyone handing over a copy of their ID for a rental, a new job or a government office. Companies and offices that want to mark ID copies they receive as “Received copy”. Anyone who wants “Confidential” or “Sample” on a document, or a small name in the corner of a photo.

What should I write?

Write who it is for, what it is for and the date. If the copy is used for something else later, it shows where it was originally given. The wording on this page can be used as it is.

Does a watermark stop misuse?

A watermark shows what the copy was given for. It cannot fully prevent misuse. When you hand over a copy of your ID, also make sure the recipient can be trusted.

Will a watermarked copy be accepted?

Some recipients may ask for documents without a watermark. If you are unsure, check with them before sending.

Can the watermark be removed later?

The watermark is burned into the image, so it cannot be removed on its own. PDF pages are also rebuilt as images. However, it cannot stop someone from editing the image with photo software.

Is the photo’s location data kept?

No. The saved file is a newly created image, so the date taken, location and other camera data are not included.
