Tips for codes that scan reliably

The official QR code site says a QR code needs a clear margin, or “quiet zone”, four modules wide on all sides. Codes made here already include it.

When printing, keep text and images away from the code, avoid making it too small, and use a dark code on a light background.

FAQ

Who is this tool for?

It suits shops and businesses putting a website or social link on flyers, business cards and posters, cafés, salons and offices that want to share Wi-Fi with guests, event organizers linking to a sign-up page or contact email, and anyone who wants a QR code right now without signing up or installing an app.

When is it most useful?

For example: a Wi-Fi QR code at your shop entrance or on tables, a contact QR code on your business card so people can save your details in one scan, a booking page QR code on a flyer, or an email QR code with the address and subject already filled in.

What do I gain from using it?

People no longer have to type a long URL or Wi-Fi password, so there are fewer typos. The code updates as you type, so you can make and save it in seconds. You can also change the colors to match your flyer or brand.

Is it free?

Yes. Creating and downloading QR codes is free, with no limit on how many you make and no sign-up.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. The code contains your text directly, with no redirect service in between, so it keeps working. A URL code stops being useful only if the web page itself is taken down.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The QR code is generated in your browser. Even Wi-Fi passwords and contact details you type are never sent anywhere.
