One button checks your camera and microphone together. For the speaker, just play the test sound and answer. The result list shows “OK” or “Needs attention”.

How to use

  1. 1. Press “Check camera, microphone and speakers at once”When asked for camera and microphone permission, choose “Allow”. Your picture appears and the microphone bar moves when you speak.
  2. 2. Play the speaker soundPress “Play test sound” and answer whether you heard it.
  3. 3. Check the result and fixSee whether camera, microphone and speaker are OK in the result list. For anything that fails, causes and fixes are shown. When done, press “Finish” before joining your meeting.

Good to check before a video call

  • Close other meeting apps (so they do not compete for the camera or microphone)
  • If you use earphones or a headset, connect them before checking
  • Lighting, and whether your face is in the middle of the picture
  • Record your voice and listen for muffled sound or loud noise

FAQ

Who is this for?

Anyone about to join Zoom, Teams, Google Meet or another video call, or an online interview, meeting or class, who wants to check camera, microphone and speakers at once.

It says “In use by another app”

If an app such as Zoom or Teams, or another tab, is using the camera or microphone, this page cannot open it. If you are in a meeting, leave it or quit the app, check here, then close this tab and go back.

It says “Not allowed” without asking me

You chose “Block” before. Allow the camera and microphone from the icon at the left of the address bar. Your Mac or Windows settings may also be blocking the browser.

The microphone bar does not move

Check the microphone mute (including headset buttons or switches) and choose the microphone you want under “Choose a different camera, microphone or speaker”.

It works here but not in my meeting app

Check that the camera, microphone and speaker selected inside the meeting app are the same devices as here. The app itself may also be muted.

Is video or sound sent anywhere?

No. Video and sound are used only in this page. Your recorded voice stays in this browser.
